interesting thought. I feel that this can be because of childhood where a child is made to feel inferior and of little worth. As somebody who spent many years in the so called care system I had extremely low self esteem, andit is only in recent years that I realise that Iam as good as the next person. Many children who also spent time in Care-- particularly with religious pressures and attitudes were definitely told they were worthless. this can hang on to a person for most of their lives unless something occurs to help them rid themselves of this dreadful attitude.

Self esteem is so important and having many interests in other people also-- so forgetting SELF really.

I agreed that music can stir memories in a big way. when I ventured on a life history course music was very much to the fore and triggered so many memories. Music is vitally important to me both classical-- Early Music, and the vast array of music that stirs the emotions in every way.

Thanks Marc - as I spend a lot of time speaking about and coaching people to write their life story I thoroughly recommend music for massaging the memory. I am UK based, but presume my European readers can get you on the web? AnnA

We're known as the Music of Your Life syndicated radio network for 31 years and running. Playing the classics from the Great American Songbook, Sinatra, Ella, Bennett, Glenn Miller, etc. While we're not the music of everyone's life, the roots of much of today's great music originated with many of the great songwriters and composers. Thanks!

It's interesting that this list doesn't contain any self-help books or how to survive on a desert island. It must be a five-star desert island. I've read six of the ten and would only liked two of them enough to want to re-read them. I would however, take a copy of the last book I read called YOU UNSTUCK (author Libby Gill). It gives you a powerful process for getting UNSTUCK in your personal and professional life. So far it’s helped me overcome limiting assumptions and undermining behaviors. It’s been very empowering!
